Chapter 25:
Since Fon has returned to school, he has never looked into Jake's eyes for once, and it seems that he (his personality) has returned back to the time when he has just admitted to this school (and actually the situation now is worse than that time). Fon thought that Jake's memory was deleted and he got all sorts of dilemma in his mind. Nicholas asked Fon to continue with their anti-government activities in "Turks", but Fon didn’t want to follow his own "fate" of bringing changes to Ilegenes. As a man-made body who has killed someone in such a cruel way, he thought that he is not qualified to put any judgment on Ilegenes anymore so he wanted to dismiss "Turks". Then, he returned to his room on his own. He remembered what Professor Littenber told him, and he knew that he was not the only man-made body who was made to change Ilegenes. As he thought of the fact that he could be substituted by some other man-made bodies, he wanted to commit suicide. (He lied on the bed and wanted to use his necktie to strangle himself to death.) Jake walked near to the room and heard some noises. He asked if Fon was in the room, and this stopped Fon from killing himself. Fon coughed seriously and when Jake walked near to him, he saw the mark on his neck. Jake was shocked but he didn’t dare to ask Fon what's happened. After Jake has finished his duty of the day, he rushed to find Fon but he could find him nowhere. The story ends with Fon standing on the roof of a building.

Chapter 26:
Fon was alone on the roof, looking at the photo (a 3D image) of him and his para-parents (from a mini-projector which looked like a pocket watch). He felt very lonely as he knew that all of his memories with his parents were not true. He felt even lonelier when he realized that the people he met were all “unreal” (which is actually not true), so he wanted to jump from the roof and commit suicide. At this moment, Jake came and stopped Fon from committing suicide by holding his arms around him.
“You are such a big idiot!!” Jake shouted angrily. “No matter what has happened, I won’t allow you to die!”

“I am a coward who has deceived everyone.” said Fon.

Fon afraid that if he told Jake the truth (that he was a man-made body who was made to “brain-wash” others to follow him and bring changes to Ilegenes), Jake will abandon him. However, it seems that Jake was able to read through Fon’s mind and he said,
“It’s fine even though you may have deceived me, so please don't die.”

Jake didn’t let Fon go. He kept holding him in his arm and said,
“I hate to have you disappeared (from my sight). I don't want to go back to the room where you are not there.”

At this moment, Fon felt a bit weird because while all his other classmates showed their worrisome and asked him what has happened in these 3 weeks of absence, Jake didn’t ask a word. Then, Fon started to realize that, may be it’s because Jake’s memory of that day was not deleted. However, when Fon thought of the fact that Jake saw what he has done (killing that man in a cruel way), he said,
“I am not qualified to be here.”

When Fon said so, he again thought of the other man-made bodies who were made to substitute him. Jake replied as if he was able to understand what Fon was thinking,
“It can’t be if it is not you. I don't care who and what you are.”

Fon was so surprised because Jake’s words were like replying his thoughts and inner feelings. Fon started to think of Jake’s joyous face when he saw Fon was gradually opening his heart to other people. Jake was so happy as if it was his own improvement. Jake knew that Fon has been growing up in a narrow world, so he wanted to show Fon how wide the world actually is. He wanted to see all these with Fon, so he didn’t want Fon to die. Fon was so pleased when he heard all these, but at the same time, he also worried. “Is it because of the way I was designed (as a charismatic person/ leader), so that’s why it leads Jake to think of and worry about me? After all, my emotion was programmed by someone else.” Fon thought.
“You are the only one who can sleep by my side.” Jake said.

Fon’s face has been blank without emotion since the time when he has returned from the laboratory. However, when Fon heard Jake’s words, he cried and kept saying sorry to Jake. Fon virtually realized that the painful feeling in his heart when he heard Jake’s words was actually coming from his OWN will.
The story ends somewhere here, and it seems that the next chapter will be focusing on Janis and Js because Js saw what Fon did. (Js has been acting a bit strange since that time and Janis realized this.)

This chapter focuses quite a lot on Jake's dad and Fon's conversation.
Fon, after staying in Jake's home for two days, seems to have gained important insights on how he as a "man-made body" should be going in the future.
This chapter ends with the scenes in which Fon left the Bernes, and I found these pages especially sweet~ ////
